Property Managers and Building Owners to Benefit from City Spec’s Safety Inspection Technology
New York City, February 7, 2008 -- City Spec, Inc. today announced that it will begin providing elevator and escalator inspection services throughout the five boroughs of New York through a partnership with Elevator Expeditors Inc. (Howell, NJ).
City Spec’s elevator inspection services are automated through software that manages inspections and client data and greatly increase the efficiency and accuracy of the elevator and escalator inspection process. It enables inspections to be filed electronically, with all information easily accessible for customers online.
“The increased accuracy and efficiency enabled by City Spec safety inspection software benefits property managers, building owners and others,” said Stephen Kleva, President and CEO of City Spec. He continued, “Our safety application has been used successfully widely throughout NYC in the boiler inspection market since 1995.”
“We are pleased to be partnering with City Spec to offer automated inspection of elevators and escalators in the New York City market,” stated Stephen Ruocco, President of Elevator Expeditor’s Inc. He continued, “Beginning in January 2009, elevator maintenance companies will no longer be allowed to individually perform elevator inspections due to potential conflict of interest issues, so there will be a huge market opportunity to meet this inspection need.”
The comprehensive functionality of City Spec technology enables inspectors to use mobile Tablet PCs in the field that synchronize with a back-end database. They can schedule inspection routes and upload and download job details including inspection data, elevator/escalator records, prior inspection results, routes, and contact information. The software also initiates billing and inspection notification and checks NYC Department of Buildings processing dates to guarantee compliance.
New York City has more than 63,000 elevators, escalators and related equipment. All elevators and escalators under the New York City Department of Building's jurisdiction must be inspected five times every two years: three times by Buildings Department inspectors and two times by a private elevator and escalator inspection agency licensed by the NYC Department of Buildings.
City Spec was founded in 1992 to perform inspections on low-pressure boilers within the city of New York. City Spec’s parent company, Insparisk, is a national safety inspection company with software solutions that manage safety inspection for boilers, elevators/escalators, fire detection/suppression systems, building facades, HVAC equipment, and electrical panels. Stephen Kleva is President and CEO. For more information on City Spec, visit www.cityspec.com.
